Email, calendar and contacts on iPhone and iPad

There are two ways on iPhone and iPad. Both set up mail, calendars and contacts together.

Exchange (recommended)Profile
New mail notificationInstantPeriodic (iOS checks every 15 minutes)
Mail, calendars, contactsYesYes
TasksYes (in the Reminders app)No
Setup2 minutes, you type the server name1 minute, you install a file
  1. Tap Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Microsoft Exchange.
  2. Enter your address (e.g. ali@firmaniz.com) in Email and any name in Description, tap Next.
  3. When asked "Sign in to your Exchange account using Microsoft?", choose Configure Manually.
  4. Enter your password and tap Next. (If 2-step verification is on, enter an app password here, see Security.)
  5. If server details are requested:
    • Server: webmail.weblibi.com
    • Domain: leave empty
    • Username: your full email address
  6. Tap Next, choose what to sync (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders) and tap Save.
Note: The first sync can take a few minutes depending on the size of your mailbox. iOS downloads the last month of mail by default (half a minute for a 30,000-message mailbox we measured). For older mail search in webmail, or choose 3 or 6 months under Settings → Mail → Accounts → (your account) → Mail Days to Sync. No Limit makes the first sync of a mailbox with tens of thousands of messages very long (measured: over half an hour) and drains the battery.

Method 2: Profile (one file)

  1. On the iPhone open this address in Safari (with your address): https://webmail.weblibi.com/mobileconfig?email=ali@firmaniz.com If you are signed in to webmail, the same link is the Download iPhone / iPad profile button under Settings → Application → Mail client setup.
  2. Answer Allow to "This website is trying to download a configuration profile".
  3. Open Settings and tap Profile Downloaded at the top (or Settings → General → VPN & Device Management).
  4. Tap Install and enter your passcode. The profile may show "Not Verified": the file came directly from webmail.weblibi.com over an encrypted connection; the warning appears because the profile is not digitally signed.
  5. Enter your email password when asked (it may be asked separately for mail, calendars and contacts).

The profile contains no password. To remove it: Settings → General → VPN & Device Management → Weblibi → Remove Profile.

Method 3: Manual IMAP (mail only)

Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Mail Account, then the IMAP tab:

FieldIncoming mail serverOutgoing mail server
Host namemail.weblibi.commail.weblibi.com
User nameyour full email addressyour full email address
Passwordyour email passwordyour email password

After saving, open Account → Advanced: incoming Use SSL: on, port 993; outgoing server Use SSL: on, port 587.

Troubleshooting

  • "Unable to verify account information": make sure the user name is your full email address and the password is correct. If you can sign in to webmail with the same password, it is correct. With 2-step verification on, the phone needs an app password.
  • Calendar missing: Settings → Calendar → Accounts → (your account) must have Calendars switched on.
  • No new mail on the phone but it is in webmail: under Settings → Mail → Accounts → Fetch New Data your account must be Push or Fetch.
  • If you were migrated and the phone still uses the old account: Migration FAQ.
